Jim Nostdahl is a native of Minot, North Dakota. He attended the University of North Dakota, graduating with a B.A. (Summa Cum Laude) in 1979. He also obtained his law degree from the University of North Dakota, graduating in 1982 (with distinction) and Order of the Coif honors as well as being named to the Law Review Board of Editors.

Jim’s practice focuses on personal injury litigation. He has handled personal injury claims involving oil field accidents, truck accidents, car accidents, farm accidents, train accidents, burn injuries, Anhydrous ammonia exposure, fireworks injuries, Hydrogen Sulfide exposure, medical malpractice, slip and falls, and many other types of accidents. In his thirty-plus years of practice, Nostdahl has obtained some of the largest settlements and verdicts in North Dakota history. In doing so, he has been involved in litigation against many types of defendants, including corporations such as WalMart, Canadian Pacific Railway, Sears Roebuck, Burlington Northern Railroad, Hess Oil, and other multinational defendants and their insurance companies.
Jim is married to Trisha (Brevig) Nostdahl and they have four children, two boys, and two girls.
